Tech. - 1.) The role of the "guide" was very similar to that traditionally designated to a "familiar spirit"; (Kenneth Grant, The Magical Revival, Samuel Weiser, 1973, p.161, para.4). The guide may best be understood as an instrument of amplification. The consciousness of the guide is, by act of Will, attuned to that of the subject and serves to amplify or exaggerate all responses of the subject. Propensities are actualized, thoughts are vocalized, vocalizations are translated into deeds. An environment is created in which all responses within the context of the predetermined Working are given immediate, positive reinforcement.Criticism of Tech. - 2.) It is my impression that the Working progressed in a geometric manner. This seems to be undesirable in that many vital areas that could have been exposed to conscious examination were missed due to the rapidity of the Working. Better techniques that allow for a more systematic exploration of these areas must be evolved.
General Observations - 3.) A personality from a previous Aeon was brought into contact with the forces of this Aeon. The overall experience was not that of watching a movie, but of participating in an ongoing drama. A seed was planted that is in part responsible for the individual and collectively existent Trees of today. The child as father to the man.
4.) In the latter half of the working, an entity phrasing itself in terms of possible future realities made itself known. This may have been a balancing asserting itself and/or karmic "reward." Seed for Seed. Whether this phenomenon is of a general nature or an idiosyncratic manner in which the magickal personality of the subject balances itself is not known.
5.) The people leaving during the Working and the restlessness of the group brings into question the relevancy of this type of experience for the cabal as a whole. The cabal could be polled before further workings and as an alternative to group participation a sub-group can be formed of those individuals interested in this current.
6.) A variety of interpretations of the basic experience should be developed. As an example, a sexual interpretation would view the ringed city as the vulva and the Blind Old One as the Penis. The words of the OLD ONE could relate to the impending organism which would, in fact, destroy/renew existent structure (structuring). These different interpretations could access the experience on all possible planes.
