The Magickal Record of Louis Martinie': August 1998

Saturday 1
Sent an image of a white cat encased in soap to Gwenivere. My primary familar ofter comes as a white cat. Enclosed a short letter with no answer to the question we often ask one another, "Why is there such suffering in the world?"

Sunday 2
Tibetan Cultural Center...The sound of chanted sanscrit opens rhythmic doors in my mind. The sylables lend themselves to a rhythmic interpretation.

Monday 3
Black Moon Publishing...figured out how to do text field to place our books on amazon.com. They are a huge book seller working through the internet. I am very proud of anything I can figure out concerning the internet or computers.

Tuesday 4
The veve is a geometric signature of the loa. The angles of the veve tell much of its story...circumscribe the veves function as a map and a calling card.

Wednesday 5
Tibetan Cultural Center...Mr. Norbu came and emptied the trash from a desk where I was sitting. Pride is an attachment that prevents growth. One can only feel humility if the one's goal is kept in sight.

Thursday 6
Ah! The power of Owen's poetry is upon me. I forget so easily...but this may be a boom...rediscovery is such a pleasure. One becomes a Druid or keeper of the lore by expressing oneself thus.

Friday 7
All Black Moon Publishing titles are submitted to amazon.com.

Saturday 8
My loves birthday. Quiet and together.

Sunday 9
I have not as yet dressed my drum. Much like air bathing. The drum does call for the medicine pacquet made by Little Bear. I placed the pacquet on the drums head

Monday 10
To Cincinnati to work on estate. A Lady Bug flew out of a friend, Charmin's portfolio as we spoke in the house. It suprised Charmine, Mishlen explained that my passed Mother often comes as a Lady Bug. The Ladybug spent the night on the ceiling directly above where we slept. I took her our in the morning and she flew away.

Tuesday 11
To Cincinnati to look after Elaine's house

Wednesday 12
Cincinnati to Bloomngton.

Thursday 13
Maureen Tucker's band. She, as a drummer, has more influence on my playing than anyone else.

Friday 14
Master Lee...He told me there was someone I want to forgive. This resonates perfectly with the Congo Square ms. Lizabeth must forgive to regain the peace of her hill.

Saturday 15
Marty and Linda...foot massage and talk of StarWood and posession.

Sunday 16
Ritual at Tibet Center. Chanting to Tara...strong presence.

Monday 17
Geshala to Indianopolisis air port.It is such a joy to be in the presence of the Tibetan elders. He was fluent only in Tibetan, still I learnt much. Ache' is the best way to put it. Going through customs I could see that his smal bag was full of rocks.

Tuesday 18
Last half of Owen's 1200 page ms to Australia for scanning.Once on disc it will be much easier to presetve and to distribute.

Wednesday 19
To Cincinnati to work on estate. Got the slides from Sharmon for the Congo Square ms.

Thursday 20
To the Tibet Center to say so long. Mr. Norbu gave me a book with a mantra he wrote in Tibetan. I reguard him as my teacher. He is a good man and I can learn much from him. Not the doctrines of Buddhism, these I can read or hear in other places. It is more important to me to see how he is in the world, to go for medicine with him. It is the everyday things that teach me. Dostoyevsky and his bok THE IDIOT tried to see if he could portray a good man, this is what I try to portray with my life. Mr. Norbu is a great influence in this.

Friday 21
Mishlen is reading QUEN MARGO by Dumas. The story is set in France in, I believe, 1610AD. On page 478 there is a description of a doll made of wax with a pin through the heart. Earlier in the book, the letter "M" for morte was pinned to such a doll. Her is the origion of our New Orleans Voodoo Dolls. French, not African. From what I know, the peircing of figures with metal (iron) was to strengthen the figures.

Saturday 22
Pack and leave for New Orleans. It has been a particularly odd summer. Much of the unexpected. Very little writting or work on Moon. That time was spent organizing Elain's estate. It has only been 4 months since she has passed. The time I spent at the Tibet Center has helped make me a better man. My mind is calmer and when it is not, I do not fall into an immediate identification with the streams that run through its ever changing expanse.

Sunday 23

Saturday 29
Buirut the play and Shoupenhauer on sucide. He has a firm grasp of the ovious, a most important insight.

Sunday 30
Took a cat with a broken leg to the vet. What a beautiful thing to do, and all I could think of was I would rather be writing. My mind seems to resent involvement in the particular.

Monday 31
Evening working on the submission letter to Pelican for the Congo Square ms.
