Met an incarnation of Oswan last night. He was walking around sort of disoriented in Chris' store. Then he introduced himself to me, name Bob. He asked "who this one" about Nia. He touched us three times (Nia once). It felt like a blessing. He also kept looking at the train schedule, and kept missing them. He finally left right before I did. I definately had a feeling like he was acting like the recently dead. Sort of wandering like a loose end, and popping out from behind things, etc. I also think it was interesting that he was hanging around while we were smoking, since M said Oswan liked to smoke. At first I thought it was some sort of manifestation of Legba, probably because of the father figure aspect, I kept thinking he looked liked Sy Richardson, but then I took out the photo of Oswan and they could have been brothers. Must be from the same tribe. I also think it was interesting that he manifested there. Chris has sort of a Jerry Garcia shrine up in front of his computer. And Jerry and Oswan are the only two non-familial dead that I honor with libations. All in all a very positive experience. Maybe I should tell Lu and Miriam.

Oct. 4

Today was the festival for Orunmila. Aria and I finished the center pole downstairs, decoraating it with Damballa and Aida wedo. Then we left offerings, and drew a veve. Nia helped as much as she could.

Oct. 16

Spoke today with the director of the Black arts research center, he is going to write a column about recent publications. I think it will be good to get a decent bibliographic column in Oshun. Decided last night that I should buy three Lizards and name them Gbongo(after the santeria pataki), Moll (as in Flanders) , and Baptiste(in honor of this interesting frenchman who just sent some e-mail). They will travel with me and perform divination, I got the idea from Lu's magickal record and dealings with a white lizard he found. I would also like to start a Voodoo grimoire-since there are so many requests for one.

The oil for this lady of love, beauty, and gold should be mixed on a thursday, with a mortar and pestle, under a waxing moon. The chant for Oshun, Ori Ye Ye O, should be said over the mixture to consecrate it.
