December 4: Visited the Botanica in Providence to pick up candles and holy water for Chango feast. Very strange the building across the street was on fire. I guess the appropriate response is Kaguo Kabiolise.
December 19-20: Earil's Yule wedding with Imani and Orion presiding. Aria and Imani's kids were the bubble brigade to salute Eleggua, they marched around the church blowing bubbles and dancing.it was so cute. Earil wore an authentic Norwegian wedding crown of candles. Nia kept chiming in during the ceremony adding her baby-type blessing. Caught the bouquet, but I'm not putting much stock in that.
December 30: Seven African Powers Feast- Made a special honey spice cake for Oshun, yellow cake for Yemaya and Obatala, Chocolate cake with Purple frosting for Oya, Green cupcakes for Oggun, and Aria made M&M cupcakes for Eleggua. I made an apple pie for Chango as it seemed a befitting Macho dish.
December 31: Ancestor Feast- made all the dishes I used to share with my grandparents on New Years eve, and did a full house cleaning/ ritual including salute to Damballa and Aida Wedo. I keep thinking about the Jewish tradition of removing all the "hummitz" before the new year. It seems like cross-culturally this is the time for ritual cleaning.
