I wanted to make a recording that featured music that was composed specifically for the harp--you won't recognize most of this music, but I can assure you that it is some of the most beautiful the harp can produce.

Highlights include Vers La Source... an impressionistic depiction of a babbling brook; Chanson Dans La Nuit, a tone poem for two harps (both me!) which is rich with harp effects; Impromptu Caprice, a big concert piece; Aria In Classic Style for harp with string or organ accompaniment, here reorchestrated for electronic orchestra; and the Debussy Danses with string orchestra. This was my first recording! It was recorded during one really hot, non air-conditioned summer (1983), so there's plenty of "sweat equity" in this one. The idea was to record an album that would have a nice combination of old popular classics and some newer things I was exploring at the time involving musical styles and orchestration.

I wanted to record a traditional Christmas album but one that had more to offer than just the standard arrangements. There are a wide variety of styles and interpretations--jazz, classical, popular, even reggae--that are sure to put you in the holiday spirit!

Highlights include a huge concert arrangement of Silent Night; a lush jazz interpretation of The Christmas Song (Chestnuts...); a Theme and Variations treatment of O Tannenbaum that displays the harp's wide range of tonal colors. For variety I also chose a group of four European carols, and since what would Christmas be without Elvis, I arranged his Blue Christmas for solo harp.
