I generally am asked to provide either an assembly program/concert or in-class instruction on the mini-harps student performance at assembly.

An assembly includes:

• Performance on a concert grand harp both solo and with accompaniment CD. The solo songs are generally children's songs (Disney, for instance); while the tunes with background tracks are more universal.
• A short presentation on how the harp works and a bit of its history.
• Performance on the lap harp
• Question & answer session
• Hands-on time with the mini-harps

If the assembly is at the end of the session, a student performance may be included.

An assembly generally lasts 40 minutes to an hour.

A class period of up to one hour may either be a mini-assembly or actual class instruction on the harp including:

• Exploration time on the instruments
• Discussion of what makes high versus low notes
• Harp hand position
• Up and down on the harp (glissandi)
• A scale up and a scale down
• Learn to play a song

The maturity of the students will determine how far we get. Younger students (K-3rd) work best with two children to one mini-harp; the older students can handle one to a harp.
