Michelle's Harp Class

Music is an important part of a well balanced life. Imagine turning on a radio and hearing only talk! Or, what would movies and television be like without music to set the tone of the scene, be it scary or roamntic?

My objective is to bring my fleet of miniature harps into the classroom in order to give students a hands-on musical experience. I teach them some simple songs, which gives them a tremendous sense of accomplishment. I also bring my full-size concert harp in for a demonstration and performance.

Recently, Northern Kentucky University has begun a preparatory music program which includes harp instruction. As the instructor, I have devised an introductory curriculum that is both easy and fun for both elementary and secondary schools.

It is my hope that in addition to sharing an appreciation for music and providing basic music education. this program will inspire some young "harpists to be".
