Racer Information

Packet pick-up: In Cincinnati, you can pick up your race packets at the Radisson Hotel on Chester Road (513 772 1720) (exit 15 on I75 north of downtown - Chester Road runs along the west side of I75). Pick up times are 6:00-9:00 PM Wednesday through Saturday. Check out who has registered by following one of the links at USA Cycling's National Events Page.

I've gotten conflicting information with respect to on-site registration, but the latest and best info is that there won't be any. Call USA Cycling for further information.

Race Meetings: Radisson, Wednesday- Motor Marshalls: 6:00 PM, Officials: 7:00 PM.

Wednesday Night Ault Park Criterium

Local Races: If you plan to be in town before or after the Nationals, you might want to strut your stuff in front of the locals. Patrick Heaney, winner on the road course last year, warmed up at the Ault Park Criterium the Wednesday evening before the Nationals. A very pleasant event, safe course, lots of spectators - a fifteen-year tradition. If you are here Tuesday night, you are welcome to try to set a course record at the Queen City Wheels Time Trial, which has been held every Tuesday night during Summer Time for eons. Both of these events take place the following week as well, in case you hang around for the big money Pro-Am race in Dayton the next weekend.

Things to do (non-cycling): The big attractions are Reds games (don't know the schedule), Museum Center, the Zoo, the new Newport Aquarium, Kings Island, Jungle Jim's (the most unique thing in Cincinnati), the Olympic Indoor Velodrome (it might happen!), the various parks along the Ohio River upstream of Downtown (flying pigs!), the Roebling Bridge (big spokes), Indian Hill. Things you won't see: Fountain Square fountain, hardcore stuff at Larry Flynt's Newstand, Jerry Springer's birthplace.

Photography: Moments Captured will have a small army of photographers on the courses taking photos of race participants. Look for a brochure in the race packet. Your webmaster also happens to be a cycling photographer. Though not quite in the same league as Graham Watson and Casey Gibson, Curt Austin is available for any special needs you may have to document your participation - "Honor thy sponsor" with photos!

The Loveland Bike Trail: Not a good place to train, of course, but a good way to get to some lightly-traveled roads to the north and east. The trail starts in Milford, about 8 miles south of Loveland, and goes for 62 miles to Yellow Springs and beyond. Best parking is in Loveland - take Loveland-Indian Hill exit from I275, head northeast, then go right on Loveland Avenue to the Historic District. Instead of the trail, you might head up Route 48 instead.

Housing: The contact for obtaining host housing is Lori Michaels, 513 621 1600x2 or 513 621 0997.
