East Fork Mt. Bike Trail
The Queen City Wheels has built a bike trail at East Fork State Park with the cooperation of the Ohio Dep't of Natural Resources and with sponsorship from several area bike shops. The Kentucky Mountain Bike Association (KyMBA) has adopted this trail as well and both clubs spend a great deal of time maintaining and improving the trail.
Including both loops, the trail covers 4.2 miles. The first loop is generally flat and smooth, but is quite twisty through the woods. Most people should be able to enjoy this part of the trail. The second loop is more challenging, with steep hills, switchbacks, and a few logs.
It is important that cyclists obey the rules and use common sense. The trail is posted against horses, while the horse trails are posted against bicycles; this is a good deal for both, and we want the Park Rangers to enforce it (there is a substantial fine for the dim-witted).
The trail begins at the South Access parking lot. You get there by taking Rt 125 (Beechmont Avenue) east from the 3:00 position of the 275 loop around Cincinnati. Go through Amelia and another four miles. Turn left at a prominent traffic light (where 222 South turns right). Turn left at the big sign for the Park (0.5 miles) and left into the South Access lot (0.5 miles).
The Dayton Bicycle Club opened a trail at Caeser's Creek State Park in 1994. It is a good trail, more challenging than East Fork. The soil is clay, and can be unpleasant when wet. Go up I-71 and turn west (towards the flea market). Turn right onto Harveysburg Road and go nearly to the end. The trail goes off to the right.
