Preamble

We, the students of Conner High School, in order to bring about and maintain school spirit, promote student-teacher relationships, encourage student participation and positive attitudes, form a more organized school body, and set an example for obedience to constituted authority for our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the Student Council of Conner High School. This Student Council will be a leader in affairs, but also be a non-profit organization. It will sponsor projects beneficial to Conner High School and practice a democratic form of government.

Article I.  Name

The name of this organization shall be the "Conner High School Student Council".

Article II.  Purpose

The purpose of this student council shall be to apply communication and educational skills in situations students will experience in life, to promote school spirit, to provide role-models (officers) who demonstrate self-sufficiency and responsible group membership, bring forth unity and peace between faculty, administrators, and students, to enable the student body to think about problems within the school and to give them a chance to solve the problems, to always strive to improve Conner High School. The Student Council at Conner, with these purposes in mind plan to integrate new knowledge and expand the existing knowledge of not only our students, but our faculty members.

Article III.  Composition

The membership of the Council shall consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer elected by the student body and members-at-large. Members-at-large are members of the student body who complete an application for membership and a formal petition signed by 50 students and 3 faculty members and are approved for membership by the advisors and administrators. The officers are members-at-large who formally campaign during the month of May.
