Best Partnership 2003 – 2004

The primary goal of the Citibank and Conner High School is to develop a partnership that can allow both groups the ability to share resources, learn from each other, and gain exposure to each other and the community.  We have identified numerous opportunities that will ensure that this partnership achieves this goal and becomes a model for future BEST partnerships in the Northern Kentucky area.

·        Banking on Your Future VI – A one-day workshop involving the Citi family presented to approximately 300 high school juniors and seniors.  The event includes break out sessions and speakers from a wide range of areas.  The event also includes a job fair for all students.  The Conner High School students will help coordinate the registration process for all schools invited.  In addition, the Conner High School students will serve as ambassadors on the day of the event by working the registration table, introducing speakers, coordinating the career fair and other necessary jobs.   

·        Develop the Citibank/Conner High School Work Ethics Program – This program will enhance the program that Conner High School already has in place for the senior class.  This program will offer a similar challenge for all students in the 9^th –11^th grades.  Students that excel in the areas of discipline, attendance, absence, tardy, community service, grade point average, and work ethic standards will earn this recognition.  Not only are these areas of focus in high school, they are critical for the business community as well.  Citibank and Conner High School will recognize each student that achieves this goal at the end of the school year.  Recognition will also take place monthly as students continue to strive for the year-end goal.

·        Habitat for Humanity – Conner High School will partner with Citibank on the housing project for which Citibank is a key sponsor.  Conner High School students and faculty will join Citibank employees who have volunteered time to help 2 families from Cincinnati build their homes.  This will enable both organizations to build community pride together.

·        Citibank Internship Program – Citibank will provide exposure to students from Conner High School in the area of business.  Citibank is a major employer in the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area supporting over a hundred billion dollar credit card portfolio as well as other Citigroup businesses.  One of the largest monthly initiatives is hiring people to enable the business to succeed.  This internship will allow students to help with the facilitation of this process.  They will gain experience in organizing a process, as well as exposure to the process of gaining employment after they graduate.

·        Conner High School/Goodridge Elementary Reading Program – Conner High School sponsors the 4^th grade reading program at Goodridge Elementary.  A major event in this program is a relationship with the Cincinnati Bengal’s Football Team.  The Bengals offer a program where they provide resources to encourage elementary school children to become life- long readers.  Citibank will provide the resources needed to make this partnership happen.

·        Conner High School/Citibank Multi Media Program – Conner High School’s Multi Media students need opportunities to build their skills.  This program will enable the students to build and maintain the Citibank/Conner High School BEST partnership web page that will be linked to the Citibank Kentucky home page.  This page will include up to date information on the program, as well as a recognition page for both Citibank and Conner High School.

·        Citibank Kentucky Environmental Habitat – The Conner High School science department will work with Citibank to continue to understand the preserve adjacent to the facility.  This will provide the students an opportunity to apply learned knowledge, and help Citibank certify the area as an environmental habitat.
