CAREER CLUSTERS
The
following pages are designed to provide information on Kentucky’s recognized
career clusters and intended to be used by CHS students as an aid in selecting
classes.
Each student has an IGP in which they have identified
career choices/clusters. These career
choices/clusters were identified using various self-assessments, tests and
interest inventories. Students should
look at their selected career clusters or occupations and then view the
recommended course plan as you select classes each year at CHS.
Classes
have been listed as minimums. That
means that if it is listed as English I and you qualify for Honors English I
that would satisfy that requirement. In
Math several students will enter the 9th grade with an Algebra
credit(s). They will simply accelerate
their Math selections. Additionally,
classes are listed at specific minimum grade levels. If a student can not fit that class at that grade level it is
okay to place it at a higher grade level if the student has the required
prerequisites. For example, if
Sociology is listed at the Sophomore level it is okay to place it at the Junior
or Senior level if it only fits in that year on your four year plan.
In
some majors a student will not be able to take all specialized classes or
suggested courses. In that case the
student should take the specialized classes first and fit in the suggested
courses as possible.
If
students have any questions please talk with your C.O.U.G.A.R.S. mentor,
classroom teacher, counselor or administrator.
